Entry Requirement
There are no specific entry requirements for this qualification, however, the achievement of the NEBOSH International General Certificate or direct equivalent prior to undertaking the International Technical Certificate in Oil and Gas Safety course is highly recommended.
This qualification is designed as a specialist sector-specific supplement to the NEBOSH International General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety (IGC) rather than to replace the knowledge and understanding of general health and safety gained as part of the IGC.
Good standard of written English communication is required since the examinations are held in English.
Course Content
The NEBOSH Technical Certificate in Oil and Gas Operational Safety covers the principles of process safety management in the oil and gas industries. The syllabus takes a risk management approach based on best practice and international industry standards.
The course covers:
- Health, safety and environmental management.
- Hydrocarbon process safety – 1.
- Hydrocarbon process safety – 2.
- Fire protection and emergency response.
- Logistics and transport Operations.
Course Preparation Duration
- The Face to Face Training is spread over a period of 5 days.
- Minimum total tuition hours: 34 hours.
- Recommended total private study hours: 20 hours.
- Total overall hours: 54 hours.
Exam
The NEBOSH IOG exam is assessed by two hours exam. Candidate scripts are marked by external examiners appointed by NEBOSH.
Certification
Delegates are awarded the NEBOSH International Technical Certificate in Oil and Gas Operational Safety on successful completion of one 2-hour written paper.
Holders of this qualification are now entitled to Associate Membership (AIOSH) of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) and it meets the academic requirements for Technician membership of IOSH) and Associate membership (AIIRSM) of the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (IIRSM).
